Is It Just Me, Or Is This Marlins Team Freaking You Out?
Sure, it's still spring training, but it's getting later and later in spring training, and the Fish keep on whupping the big boy's butts, as in today's game against Mark Mulder and the Cardinals. (SLAMSports)
I wish it meant something but I'm 36 years old and have seen little if any evidence that ST success translates into season success. In fact all it means is that we're trying to win meaninless games to try to get guys confidence up while our opponents are working on their games and experimenting.
Maybe, but it's not as if the Marlins haven't been experimenting also. Willingham in left is just one example. Heck, you can say that's all they've been doing so far this year - one big untried experiment.
But I get your point. No matter how much Girardi tries to pump confidence in these minor-leaguers, who knows where their heads are going to be once they finally get to the big league parks playing games that count? Maybe we'll be surprised with their results - but since it would be a surprise to us, that shows we know it wouldn't be likely.
