Series-Splitting Hopes

It's Anibal vs. Ian Kennedy in the Marlins' attempt tonight to break out of their insta-collapse.

Monday, May 30, 2011

Desert Trip

With Hanley a question mark the Phish are in Phoenix phor three. Tonight the on-fire Snakes start Joe Saunders, and the Marlins start Chris Volstad.

Hot Fish Aim For Series Win

The Fish were so hot last night that the building almost burned down.

The gang members left in the stands will witness today the battle between Clayton Kershaw and Ricky Nolasco. Loney won't be starting.

AND: John Baker weighs in on the Buster Posey situation.

Saturday, May 28, 2011

Woof Part 2

The Fish will have another Bark in the Park to look at tonight, their second one in the past two weeks. On the mound, the Dodgers send Hideki Kuroda and the Marlins bring out Brian Sanches, who'll be making his first ever major-league start.

Friday, May 27, 2011

Marlins in LA Land

The Fish Fortified themselves to face the Dodgers this weekend. Vazquez and Garland toe the rubber tonight.

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Sweep By The Bay?

While the discussion begins over whether rule changes should be made over what happened to Buster Posey last night, baseball continues to be played today, hopefully retribution-free.

It's the Marlins' last game in SanFran this year- it would've been fun if they were there on June 4 for Cody Ross Bobblehead Day. Anibal and Ryan Vogelsong start today.

Middle Game in Frisco

In the news today...the Rays took Jay, Josh felt good tossing, Mike almost hit the glove, and Oakland and MLB is watching this series' attendance.

The second game of this series stars Chris Volstad and Madison Bumgarner.

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Watching for Earthquakes

With Buente gone and Cishek back, the Fish deal with West Coast warriors for a while, firstly in San Francisco. Nolasco and Cain start.

Monday, May 23, 2011

Off Day

Philly and Washington are playing, though.

Sunday, May 22, 2011

Citrus Game No. 3

Kids get a Mike Stanton T-shirt today. Jay Buente and James Shields start.

Saturday, May 21, 2011

Saturday With the Rays

It's an earlier 4:10 start for tonight's Super Saturday game, probably to make sure the Beach Boys don't play past their bedtime (it's been 45 years since Pet Sounds!) There'll be no Brian Wilson, but John Stamos will be reportedly performing with them.

As far as baseball is concerned, the 'perfectionist' Javier Vazquez is fated to start for the Fish. The Rays will put up David Price.

Time for Javier to step it up a few (hundred) notches, as Josh was put on the DL today for shoulder inflammation - Jay Buente was called up to start Sunday.

The Rays Return

The first round of the so-called 'Citrus Series' commences. Anibal against Andy tonight.

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Short Sweet Sweep Defeat

The Marlins hope last night's loss wasn't the start of a new streak. Chris Volstad and Casey Coleman start tonight.

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Two-Fer Tonight

South Florida's war against Chicago is fought on two fronts tonight - Game 2 of the Heat-Bulls series in Chicago (on 790 AM in Miami), and the heroic struggle of the Fish against the Cubs (shuffled off again to 1080 AM). Cubs fans, as usual, are obsessively moaning about the past. Starting for them tonight will be Former Fish Ryan Dempster, while Current Fish Ricky Nolasco starts for the Marlins.

(Which Marlins pitcher has the most wins? Click here for answer.)

Sweep the Citi?

With Hanley now possibly getting batting tips from the Hopper, and insane man-babies roaming Citi Field, the Marlins attempt a mini-sweep of the Mets tonight. Ricky Nolasco and last-night's-Mets-almost-hero Jon Niese start. Josh seems okay.

SORTA: Game postponed till July 18 - Fish will fly in from Chicago for one game and then fly home, while the Mets just lose a day off in the middle of two home series.

May Mini-Series Week

This week showcases the scheduling monstrosities that were unthinkable before the guiding hand of Selig - two 2-game series in a row, and then a weekend of interleague play. Of the five NL East teams only the Mets do not have to travel to get from one two-game series to the other (and even their interleague weekend is just across town). That may give a little relief to a team who's probably wondering how they can pay David Wright's medical bills while trying to survive their heritage of financial insanity, having to cough up $1.2 mil yearly to Bobby Bo for the next quarter-century being one example.

The Mets, though, have won 7 of their last 10, and 14 of their last 22. The weather may not be helpful to the Mets this coming week however. Neither will Josh Johnson, starting tonight as is the Mets' Mike Pelfrey. Hanley will be batting second.

Sunday Sweep?

Vazquez tries to prove his viability today against Jason Marquis. Desmond is still out, and Omar gets a day off.

In other notes: LoMo's pushing Gaby to his Twitter pals, Chris expounds on his encounters with Cal, and Leo (surprise) is the majors' saves leader.

Saturday, May 14, 2011

Woof Without a Roof

The Nats and Marlins start what's predicted to be a rainy weekend with a game at 1:05 today. Tillman, the "World's Fastest Skateboarding Bulldog", is scheduled to lead the parade for the first of three 'Pups in the Park' this season at Nats Park. On the diamond, Livan will push aside his alledged ties with a drug trafficker and concentrate on starting today for the Nats, while undistracted Anibal starts for the Fish. Cora replaces Desmond in the Nats' lineup.

Back From File Corruption Hell

Now that Blogger is back to where it was, here's some news: Cishek and Petersen get sent down, and LoMo and Javier return, the Marlins are proud of their accomplishments in Haiti, John Baker details the lead-up to his Tommy John, and Cogz talks with his boyhood idol.

The Marlins begin their third road trip of the season with a 3-bagger at D.C. Volstad and Gorzelanny do a re-match from last Saturday.

Rub-Em-Out Rubber Game

Some News: Clay's slightly broken, Cishek is back, and Logan hits a homer.

Ricky Nolasco and Cliff Lee on the mound tonight.

Once again the Marlins game will be booted off 790 in Miami and end up on 1080 tonight.

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

The Big Boys

Tonight it's Josh Johnson vs. Roy Halladay.

Monday, May 09, 2011

Phillies For Three

First, though...Congrats to Gaby!

Blanton and Vazquez started already. Once again that other team in town has knocked the Marlins off their Miami radio home and onto 1080 AM.

Sunday, May 08, 2011

De-sweep Mode

Many activities at the ballpark this Mother's Day. Kids get free Mike Stanton t-shirts, along with a home-run exhibition pre-game and a faith forum with Chris Coghlan post-game.

But the basic question remains, 'Can The Fish get out of their 3-game funk?'

Anibal against Livan today. I guess John Buck's got a replacement cup.

Saturday, May 07, 2011

Notes and Nats on a Sat.

The Hopper returns after Clay is DL'ed.

Logan's cast goes to an oncologist for $1500.

John Baker is now posting on the Yahoo blog 'Big League Stew'.

It's Super Saturday. Volstad and Gorzelanny will hurl. The King of Auto-Tune, Tallahassee's own T-Pain, will do whatever he does.

Friday, May 06, 2011

Back For Nats

The Team returns to Florida to battle Washington. They're playing now...after 1.5 innings the Nats lead 1-0.

Thursday, May 05, 2011

Missouri Loves Company

The Fish are scheduled to play four games in St. Louis this week. The hot Lohse and the hot Volstad start tonight. But the St. Louis weather forecast looks iffy for tonight, though.

Sunday, May 01, 2011

Red Rubber Ball Game

After Edgar did his hero thing against his old team last night, the Fish need a win to win the series. It's Nolasco vs. Arroyo at 4:10 today.

BOUNCE-BACK: Fish win 9-5.
