New Years' Day makes it six months since the deadline set by the preliminary agreement between the Marlins, City and County for final agreements and contracts to be signed to build the ballpark. Maybe the aggreements'll get presented to the Commissions in January. Even so, at least one commissioner wants answers to her questions or she'll vote no. And at least one person in state government wants it to be law that stadium decisions be put to public votes. (

Not to worry. After watching the D.C. City Council agonize and wrangle over the Nationals' new ballpark, posturing all the way, they realized at the last minute that too much had already been set in motion and approved it.
There will always be questions of who pays for what, but I'm guessing the Marlins' new ballpark will get built. I hate using public money to support private enterprise, but trying to stop that behemoth is like trying to turn around an aircraft carrier with a drinking straw. Aint gonna happen.
Which means that the new ballpark will happen. OK, so it's late. It wouldn't be the first time a team moved into their new digs in the middle of a baseball season.
