Berardino Slams Mets Fans, Olsen Takes Digs at Missing Marlins Fans

'Speaking as a South Florida native, it's bad enough thousands of New Yorkers come down here and claim our superior climate as the sixth borough.

'It's bad enough they clog our highways and our bagel shops and foist upon us whack jobs like Rosie O'Donnell.

'But now they get to wave the broom in our face, too.

'They have subjected us to their "Let's Go Mets" chants for 15 seasons.

'And even though the Marlins have two World Series crowns to the Mets' zero during the past two decades, those thankless transplants still strut around Dolphin Stadium for these strange little gatherings like they own the place.

'Even their PR staff throws its weight around. Last month, the Mets made the Marlins yank a Borat-themed spoof on the videoboard, just as they quashed last year's subway graffiti motif.

'"New York travels well," Olsen said wryly. "It would be nice to have that kind of support around here, but we can't get that."

'Is it annoying to hear all those Mets fans at what is supposed to be a Marlins home game? Olsen gave a shrug before taking another dig at the local fan base.

'"It's OK," he said. "I like pitching on the road."'(SunSentinel)

ADDENDUM: Then again, there's no sound sweeter than the sound of disgruntled Mets fans after their team loses down here. Didn't get to hear that this time around, though.
