Interesting Thomas Boswell Article

Beyond the stats showing the improvements in the performance of the Nats over the Expos, he shows how "the underlying trends in attendance that have been revealed" makes for sobering comparasions between the Nats and other MLB teams, including the Fish. (WashingtonPost)

EXTRA: Okay, I'm not sober any more, here's Tony Kornheiser.

Most teams have their second and third games mid-week though. The Nats had weekend games for theirs.

Going up against an O's - Yankees series could have been pretty tough though.

Still, I think it's too early to say their attendance will be good. This year it's almost a given - it's their honeymoon. If people don't come now they'll never come. Next August when they're 20 games back will be the real test.

That's true. I guess the only legit comparison is with other teams in their inaugural season whose 1st home stand falls on a weekend - and how often does that happen?
