Sunday in the Park

I hope the NL Championship continues to Monday's Game 7, just so we can have something to watch on Monday besides those two jokers yelling at each other. Tonight it's Game 6 in San Francisco.

The Bell Tolls

Heath has been traded to Arizona for a minor league infielder the Snakes just got earlier in the day from Oakland.

Finalized Move

The Marlins have moved their NYPL affiliation from Jamestown to Batavia, home of Batavia Downs, the Town-N-Country Family Restaurant, and Settler's Diner out on the road to Leroy. I stayed in Batavia for 3 days last October and found the laundromats sufficiently useable. But I'll be missing AJ's Texas Hots in Jamestown.

The Fish lose Cousins and Rosario, and ship 3 others to Nawlins. (Herald)

Hump Day Happenings

With Jeffrey still on his well-deserved vacation, Clark Spencer speculates on Ozzie's chances of staying.

Here are more season reviews of Rob Brantly, Donovan Solano, Omar Infante, Gaby Sanchez, and Austin Brice.

Both series play today. Detroit can send the Yankees away with a win.

Today's Tidbits

The front office wanted fans to share their memories of 2012, and boy did they.

Linda Robertson explores how an "all-city second baseman at New York's Stuyvesant High" may or may not be micro-managing the Marlins into oblivion.

Both Championship Series play today.

Park Events

In an effort to get next season off to a more spiritually favorable start, tickets for the April visit by Joel Osteen to Marlins Park go on sale today (I'm guessing that's the best Jeffrey can do; the Pope is probably a Padres fan).

Tickets for the 'friendly' soccer match between Venezuela and Nigeria are on sale too. This is being promoted as the park's "very first non-baseball sporting event" - I bet a few of you have a problem with that statement, thinking some of the performances the Fish put on this year may not be considered 'baseball' in the pure sense of the term. Maybe it'll be fun just to see if there's a possible resurrection of the dreaded vuvuzuelas for this match, and whether their dulcet tones will shatter the picture-windows in left field.

The Championship Series start tonight in the AL with Detroit in the Bronx.

Info for 10/11/12

LoMo moves his baseball camp to Delray

Michael Lewis counts the moola the stadium brought in.

Speaking of the stadium, I got an e-mail from the Marlins stating that Joel Osteen will be appearing there in April, coincidentally during the first month of next season.

Another full day of baseball - four playoff games are scheduled today. Two games will decide who's going to the next round; the other two series could be decided tonight if the Cards or Yanks win.

The Marlins only had two sellouts this season.

4 Teams Turn Into 2

It's time for MLB's first attempt of the two one-game Wild Card series. Today the Cardinals with Mujica play against the Braves with Fredi and Uggla and Cristhian Martinez. Tonight Baltimore with Luis Ayala and Robert Andino (and Joe Angel in the radio booth) play against Texas with Ryan Dempster.

Season's End

The Fish finally hit off a sore Dickey. And Greenberg got his at-bat.

The Marlins could end the 2012 season by sweeping the Mets (the Mets have swept the Marlins in their last two series). The 4:10 start is scheduled to feature Tom Koehler and Jeremy Hefner.

Marlins-Mets Mayhem

While Jeffrey dreams of Bobby V, the Marlins' current manager will be pondering how to insert Adam Greenberg into today's game.

Josh Johnson was supposed to start last night's game, but LeBlanc was given the ball instead. Jacob Turner probably gets the start tonight opposite the brutal knuckleball of R.A. Dickey.
